“The Theory of Everything” stars Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones are in negotiations to re-team in Amazon Studios’ “The Aeronauts,” sources tell Variety.
“War & Peace’s” Tom Harper is attached to direct from a script by Jack Thorne.
The screenplay is based on the true story of balloon pilot Amelia Wren (who would be played by Jones) and scientist James Glaisher (Redmayne) who, in 1862, embarked on an extraordinary journey to discover the secrets of the heavens. In the process, they flew higher in an open balloon than anyone had before or has since. They made breathtaking discoveries, but as they ascended to the highest points of the atmosphere, they were forced into an epic fight for survival.
Mandeville Films’ Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman are producing the pic. Harper is also producing.
Amazon nabbed the spec last winter after a heated bidding war. It’s currently unknown when production will commence.
Redmayne, who won an Oscar for playing Stephen Hawking in “The Theory of Everything,” is now the star of the “Harry Potter” spinoff “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” He is filming the sequel, “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald,” which bows next November.
Jones received an Academy Award nomination for her role as Jane Hawking in “The Theory of Everything.” She recently starred in “Star Wars: Rogue One.” [Source]

Coming soon to a theater near you is a must-see biopic about the life and times of everyone’s favorite Supreme Court justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Academy Award-winner Natalie Portman was once slated to play the good justice, but things have changed since 2015 when casting was originally announced, and a new star has stepped into the limelight to represent the Notorious R.B.G. on the silver screen.
According to Deadline, Felicity Jones of Rogue One fame will don the black robe to play Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in On the Basis of Sex, a film that follows the Supreme jurist through her entire career, starting at Columbia Law School. Here’s more information about the movie:
Mimi Leder [is] set to direct for Focus Features and Participant Media. The film will shoot in Montreal in September. The drama follows the travails of Ginsburg as she faced numerous obstacles to her fight for equal rights throughout her career. Daniel Stiepleman wrote the script, which made the 2014 Black List. Robert W. Cort is producing.
Felicity Jones bears an uncanny resemblance to our beloved RBG in her youth, so kudos to whoever was in charge of casting for this movie. Justice Ginsburg is a woman of many firsts, and now she can add “first female justice to have a biopic starring an Oscar nominee” to her résumé. Congrats, Justice Ginsburg! [Source]

Felicity Jones is attached to star in an untitled pitch that’s inspired by the classic ballet “Swan Lake.”
“A Bigger Splash” helmer Luca Guadagnino is on board to direct with Kristina Lauren Anderson penning the script. Several major studios, including Paramount and Universal, are among the bidders for the property, which went on the market right before the Fourth of the July weekend.
Mandeville Films is producing, and WME is representing the hot film package.
“Swan Lake” follows Odette, a princess that is turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse. The new take will not involve any ballet but will instead use the story as the centerpiece for a major studio tentpole.
Jones starred in “Star Wars” spinoff “Rogue One” and “A Monster Calls” this past fall. The actress is repped by WME and Independent Talent Group in the U.K.
Guadagnino’s latest film, “Call Me by Your Name,” starring Armie Hammer, was a breakout at Sundance and is set to be released by Sony Pictures Classics on Nov. 24. He is also repped by WME. [Source]
